1. How do I place an order for iPAQ repair / upgrade / spare parts?
First you need to open an account with iPAQ Spares & Repairs, just
choose 'Create Account' from the top menu bar, or click on 'New Customer?' in
the Account Login box, complete the sign up process by entering a valid email
address, your address details and a password. Then select the spare parts or
repair services you require for your iPAQ, by clicking the 'Buy' button on the
specific product page. Then complete the checkout process choosing your payment
method.
2. How long does it take to return my iPAQ if sent in for repair?
Our aim is for currently listed repair services to be completed within a fast 3 - 7 working day time frame
excluding weekends or bank holidays. Fault finding and diagnostic services may involve a larger time frame. If you are in the UK your iPAQ will be sent back out via Royal
Mail Special Delivery, and will be with you before noon on the following working
day. If in Europe or America your iPAQ will be shipped via FedEx or DHL and
will take depending on the shipping method and location between three and five days.
You will receive an email notification of the return shipment of your iPAQ and
tracking details.
3. How do I send my iPAQ to iPAQ Spares & Repairs?
Shipping the iPAQ is your responsibility. You should use an insured carrier,
in the UK I recommend the Special Delivery service provided by the Royal Mail,
this will cost very little and the package will be insured for a minimum of
£250.00 if lost or damaged. If in Europe or America shipping via FedEx
or DHL will guarantee the package arrives with us. Please ensure you use a cardboard
box and wrap the iPAQ up in bubble wrap this will ensure the iPAQ arrives in
the same condition you sent it in.
4. Where do I send my iPAQ?
All the shipping address details are sent to you via email when you
complete your repair order. Click here to view detailed

5. How do I tell if I need a new iPAQ touch screen or a complete iPAQ
screen unit?
The touch screen also known as the digitizer only reads input from
the stylus when you use it on the screen, If you can still see the image under
the broken glass you probably only need the touch screen. If you can also see
blue or black ink spots or no image is displayed at all or under the broken
glass you will definitely need a complete iPAQ replacement screen.
6. The iPAQ is unable to get past the 'Align Screen' stage is this a
software or hardware fault?
The usual symptoms of this hardware fault are that when tapping the
targets to align the screen it just loops back to the start of the 'Align Screen'
routine. Your touch screen has failed and you will need a new one.
7. When using the touch screen for hand writing, the text suddenly spikes
or fails to actually appear, what causes this?
This is a hardware fault and usually requires the replacement of the
complete iPAQ glass touch screen. Under normal circumstances the touch screen
wears out through natural use, and the ability for the screen to accurately
read the input from the stylus fails and causes either spiking on handwriting
or complete dead spots where you are unable to write on the screen.
8. I am unable to find a specific part on your web site do you sell
it?
All our current iPAQ spare part inventory is listed on the web site
but please feel free to make contact with your
request.
9. Do you charge fault finding / diagnostic fee's
Testing and diagnostic services for any faulty iPAQ is free of charge,
the only costs should you choose not to have the unit repaired are those incurred
for the return shipping of the unit.
10. Can I bring my iPAQ in for an on the spot repair.
At the present moment in time I am unable to offer any walk in's or on the spot
repair / diagnostic services as I do not have retail premises. This helps to
keep my overheads low and allows me to pass these savings onto you the customer.
11. Do you offer warranty repairs on HP / Compaq iPAQ's?
iPAQ Repair & Parts does not provide any form of warranty or CarePaq service
cover for Compaq iPAQ or HP iPAQ pocket PC's. If your iPAQ is covered under warranty,
please contact HP directly; please see the iPAQ
web resources page for links.
12. How long are orders held before being processed?
All orders are checked using 3rd party information sources to minimise fraud.
If there is a chance your purchase may be fraudulent, your payment will be held for 24 hours,
iPAQ Repair and Parts may then ask you for further proof of your identity -
please check your email up to 48 hours after your order in case this happens.
13. Can you remove all the dust trapped inside my iPAQ screen?
In the majority of cases all the dust can be removed from the LCD screen
unit, the gaps are then sealed with a polyamide film using a silicone adhesive,
excluding the vents that allow the heat to escape from the side light. Some
iPAQ's have dust that just will not be moved using compressed air and a small
number of these white specs will remain, trapped under the display. Attempting
to use any other method than compressed air will cause damage to the display
unit. The iPAQ screen overall will still be much cleaner and less contaminated
than before.
14. The speaker on my iPAQ has stopped working can this be repaired?
If you have not given the speaker an unexpected drink this repair is
straight forward and involves replacing the iPAQ headphone jack. What normally
causes the speaker to stop working is a switch inside the headphone jack that
turns the speaker off when headphones are inserted becomes damaged or faulty
causing the iPAQ speaker to stop working.
15. Will you ship iPAQ spare parts internationally?
Yes! I currently ship to over 43 countries on a regular basis. When
you create an account on the iPAQ store it adjusts the shipping charges based
upon your chosen delivery location.
